Each to their own....

We are all so uniquely different. I have a client that thinks she will die without breakfast. I am not that way at all.  I do believe in following what your body tells you. It has inate wisdom.

In January I decided to incorporate intermittent fasting into my diet. You can read all about IF by searching mercola.com. There really is no wrong way to do IF. Some people skip meals, some skip days.  It will sure retrain you to recognize hunger which is fantastic because then leptin is kicking in.
It will also remind you that you may be doing a lot of mindless eating.

I chose to eat all my daily food within an 8 hour time frame. It was actually a little harder than I thought.  I can easily skip breakfast on the weekends but as soon as I walk in my office during the week, I think I need to eat. So I force myself to wait until 9 am. I started out just eating fruit but fruit, although good, is just another form of sugar.

I am a huge believer of protein so I recently switched to full fat plain Greek yogurt. It really like the Greek Gods brand.  Please do not be fat phobic.  Low fat food is what contributed to the obesity issue in America.  Good fats have staying power and are satisfying. Our brains need good fat.

So breakfast is yogurt and maybe a couple of strawberries mixed in.  That will usually hold me until 1pm.  As I have said, I know what works for me and I have trained myself to eat this way. It takes time to weed out the emotional triggers and recognize true hunger. IF isn't about dieting. It's about making wise choices and limiting the hours you eat.
